Cape Cod

The Cape Cod Style home is typically characterized by a 12/12 roof pitch and is usually one and a half stories and can have a finished or unfinished upstairs. This style originated in the 17th century in England. Traditional cape cod houses were very simple and symmetrically designed with a central front door surrounded by two windows on either side. They were built to withstand storms. Modern cap cod architecture is similar, however some designs have been adapted with the addition of new wings on the rear and roof dormers for increased space, light and ventilation.
